A Numerical Solution for Dry Sliding Line Contact of Multilayered Elastic Bodies

A dry sliding contact analysis for two elastic bodies coated with multiple layers is presented. Green’s functions for a unit normal load and a unit tangential load for the generalized plane strain problem are derived. The contact problem is reduced to an integral equation in which the contact pressure profile is unknown. A systematic and efficient numerical model for the developed integral equation is also introduced. The results for two different cases are presented and discussed.
