Abstract

Modern tests on solid rollers from 1926 to the present are reviewed here, thus providing a foundation for empirical formulas or calculations. The effects of adhesion, elastic hysteresis, microslip, and plasticity were observed under various conditions. Theoretical studies are summarized.
