Effect of molecular weight on diffusion coefficient for PFPE Z obtained experimentally on various kinds of solid surfaces. Diffusion coefficients decrease approximately with Mna, where a≈−2.8 on disk A (grooved polycarbonate surface), −2.1 on disk B (grooved polycarbonate surface), −0.8 on smooth DLC surface and −0.5 on smooth silicon surface, respectively.

For 4000 g/mol weighted lubricant molecules, the diffusion coefficients Dapp=0.071 and 0.11 inside grooves with depth of 3 and 6, respectively. For 8000 g/mol weighted lubricant molecules, the diffusion coefficients Dapp=0.014 and 0.025 inside grooves with depth of 3 and 6, respectively.
